JOHN T. DIETRICH ~ STUDIO POTTER

  1966-2023

‘Early in his career, Dietrich was more interested in the process of throwing than in design and aesthetics, but as he played more with color and line, he experimented with gesture painting which led him to developing his signature painterly brush strokes, which showed the torque and energy produced while throwing and showed off the activity of the porcelain lines.'

John T. Dietrich’s earliest memories are dominated by creating worlds with his hands. His early years were spent exploring his environment and learning how to use tools. His artist parents nurtured their children by exposing them to art daily and taught them to be observant. By the time John began his journey into clay he was prepared to sink deeply into the study of his chosen medium.

This small Retrospective of John’s life and devotion to clay shows his energy and focus as he explores clay and learns what he has to say.
